Podcast: How often should you post on social media in 2026? June 2026 update

In short

  • There is no magic frequency for posting Reels, but there is an opportunity cost to not doing so.
  • Waiting for one Reel to finish growing before posting another rarely makes sense.
  • Posting more content creates new opportunities to reach different audiences and find a video that connects.

How often should you post Reels? One of the questions we receive most often at HICARI is:

“How often should I post Reels?”

Every day? Three times a week? Once a week? Could posting too much cause the algorithm to penalize my account?

The short answer is that there is no magic frequency.

But there is one idea that many brands overlook: the opportunity cost of not posting.

The biggest myth: “I’ll wait for this Reel to finish growing”

It’s very common to see creators and brands publish a video and then wait several days before uploading the next one, for fear of “cutting its reach”.

In our experience with +400 brands and marketing agencies that use our platform or that we help with social media content creation management as a UGC agency, this rarely makes sense.

Most Reels and TikToks show clear signs of whether they are performing during their first few hours. If the video achieves good retention, comments or shares, it will continue growing on its own. If it does not connect with the audience, waiting a week before posting another one will not change the result.

In other words: new content does not usually prevent previous content from continuing to perform.

The real problem is posting too little

Imagine that every Reel you upload gets around 2,000 views.

  • If you post 1 Reel per week, you will reach approximately 2,000 people.
  • If you post 4 Reels in one week, you could total around 8,000 views and also multiply the chances of one of those pieces of content standing out.

Every post is a new opportunity to reach a different audience.

The more attempts you make, the more likely you are to find a video that truly connects.

Frequently asked questions

Can posting a new Reel reduce the reach of the previous one?

It usually does not. If the video performs well, it can continue growing on its own; if it does not connect, waiting before posting another one will not necessarily change the result.

What signals indicate early on whether a Reel is performing?

Retention, comments and shares provide clear signals during the video’s first few hours about how it is performing.

What happens if I post more than one Reel per week?

Every post offers a new opportunity to reach a different audience. By making more attempts, you increase the chances of finding a video that truly connects.
